who invented lacrosse

Lacrosse was introduced to England in 1867. From England, it spread to Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

It was an Olympic sport in 1904 at St. Louis and in 1908 at London. Only three countries, Canada, England, and the United States, were represented and Canada won both gold medals.

Lacrosse was a demonstration sport at the Olympics in 1928, 1932, and 1948, and an exhibition tournament was held at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1980.

Lacrosse was considered the most widely played team sport of its time in North America with regional variations played with either one or two sticks of differing structures.

This innovation reduced the weight and cost of the stick, and allowed for faster passes and gameplay.2 Some teams choose to distribute their sticks differently, not uncommon because a team may only have 4 long crosses on the field during live play, excluding the benches and penalty boxes. The outdor lacrosse game is not as much of a hit

Women's games are played in two 25-minute halves. A body check must be below the shoulders and above the waist, and both hands of the player applying the body check must remain in contact with his crosse. If those players cross the line, they are considered offsides and a penalty is given. A later version of box lacrosse, indoor lacrosse, is played professionally in both Canada and the United States.6 centimeters)
